Don’t share your home or workplace with ants! Our goal is to create an ant free environment. This may take some time to establish, and how long your space may remain ant free is unpredictable, but everything we do is designed to kill ants, not just repel them temporarily.
Two general categories of ants infest structures in Western Oregon:
- Carpenter ants
- All other ants... primarily Odorous House Ants (Sugar Ants).
Carpenter Ants: While there are several species of Carpenter Ants, most of the infestations involve only two. Up to about 2003, Carpenter ant treatments were labor intensive and required long periods of follow-up to really get rid of them. Since the introduction of modern, non-repellent technology, primarily Termidor (BASF), treatments are much more effective and cost less! Ants pick up the active ingredients in Termidor and carry it with them, feeding it to each other and killing the nest. Follow-up is usually not required, though a once yearly treatment may be helpful in preventing infestation.
Sugar Ants: If Sugar Ants would just behave like Carpenter Ants, life would be easy, but they don't! Termidor will only cure the infestations that are coming in from outside. Much of the time, sugar ants are already living in the structure, and the real work is done on the inside, where we use a companion product to Termidor called Phantom, along with an amazing bait called Advion.
Other Ants: While there are many other ant species, most don't go in houses, or do so only occasionally. If you have an ant infestation, call for a conversation about what it is you are dealing with, followed, if needed, by a thorough inspection.
